Panorama, a British investigative television show, investigates a secret document which critics say has been used to silence child abuse victims. According to them, Crimen Sollicitationis was enforced for 20 years by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became Pope.

Dear Pastor Dozier,

There is no one better qualified to understand the threat of religious violence and what to do about it than you.  Your legal education and experiences carrying the Cross through Collier City have provided you with the background necessary to understand the points made in this letter.  We have addressed you in care of your First Lady to allow our message to be presented in a warm and sensitive setting.

Our recognition of the pain you must have suffered by the politicians’ actions and the abandonment by the NAACP was confirmed by the newspaper accounts of the events.  We want you to turn that experience into a benefit for all Americans.

We wish to begin with some history of the civil rights movement.  In the late 1950’s a black comedian who was also a leader in the civil rights movement named Dick Gregory came to Oklahoma City to lead the picketing of a successful downtown bowling ally and restaurant because it would not admit blacks.  In response to the picketing, the owners agreed to admit blacks.  Dick Gregory left town.  Whites stopped going to that restaurant and bowling ally.  They went to segregated facilities that were not picketed in the suburbs.

The blacks used their rights to eat and bowl downtown for about two weeks.  Then they lost interest.  The Whites did not return.  Three weeks later the restaurant and bowling ally closed, never to reopen.  In 1961, Dick Gregory was playing the London House in Chicago.  After one of his performances, he was told what had happened in Oklahoma City.  He said he was aware of the problem.  He and other leaders of the civil rights movement changed their methods to be certain to picket all businesses similarity situated to deliver the message against segregation.

The moral of that story is that your recognition of religious violence is where Dick Gregory was when he first visited Oklahoma City.  You know religious violence has to stop and you are willing to take action.  But so far, your actions have caused setbacks rather than steps forward.  This is because, in part, no one in law school or during your religious training ever attempted to teach you the source and how to stop religious violence and abuse.

That is what we do.  We provide the analysis.  No longer can the American educational system ignore the quality of religious training and practice.  Everyone must get active as was done to stop slavery, grant woman the right to vote, and provide blacks with civil rights.

Comparative religious history must be accurately taught.  Jefound believes in the American rule that remedies must apply to all who are similarly situated.  Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all in the same organized religious class – any law or rule that applies to any one of them must apply equally to them all.  So if Christians can have a church in Pompano Beach, Islamists can have a Mosque.  The enemy is not the building or the people.  The enemy is their beliefs.

All three religions of Abraham use the Old Testament as the basis for their beliefs.   Each of them believes they are the exclusive word of God and that all non-believers are condemned.  This belief is the root cause of religious violence.  It must be denounced, not merely ignored.

Will you allow Jefound to dialog with you to stop religious violence?

Very truly yours,

/s/ William S. Scott
